In September, the American Farm Bureau Federation’s Cattle Market Working Group released this in-depth examination of the causes and price implications resulting from extreme market volatility in the cattle industry.

In April 2020, AFBF President Zippy Duvall tasked the newly created Cattle Market Working Group, composed of 10 state Farm Bureau presidents, to investigate and research recent volatility in the cattle markets due to COVID-19, as well as the impacts of the Holcomb, Kansas, Tyson beef plant fire.

With schools closed and 4-H and other youth activities suspended due to COVID-19, we are encouraging selection of county winners in the Rice is Nice Youth Cooking Contest based solely upon their written entry. The state will provide prizes for the winners as promised, all you need to do is send in the form provided in the official rulebook or email brandy.carroll@arfb.com. The attached scoresheet is a potential guide for selecting county winners to enter into the state contest, but as always, counties are welcome to use whatever criteria they wish to select winners.

This program is designed to stimulate the use of poultry products locally and increase awareness of the importance of poultry to Arkansas. This guidebook contains information and facts that can be used in speaking to local civic clubs, schools, etc. It also includes procedures and proposed projects for county promotion programs.
