The Arkansas Agriculture Hall of Fame has announced that its Aug. 20 induction ceremony will be postponed due to safety concerns surrounding the increase in COVID-19 cases in Arkansas. The induction ceremony is now scheduled to occur March 4, 2022, effectively skipping a year between induction classes.
John Michael and Rachel Bearden (Hot Spring County), James and Ashton Dixon (Madison County), and Lauren Martin (White County) earned Young Farmers & Ranchers awards today during Arkansas Farm Bureau’s annual Officers & Leaders Conference at the Hot Springs Convention Center.
Arkansas Farm Bureau has hired Jeff McClure of Little Rock as events director for the 190,000-member organization. In this role, McClure will handle much of the planning and preparation for various events, including Farm Bureau’s Annual Convention and mid-summer Officers and Leaders Conference.
Arkansas Farm Bureau’s Organization and Member Programs Department has hired Jeremy Miller of Huntsville as District Director for the Northwest District and Tanner Riggin of Beebe as District Director for the Northeast District. Miller and Riggin will serve as liaisons between the 12 county Farm Bureaus in each of their districts and the state office and assist in the development, implementation and evaluation of programs and activities in each district.
Arkansas Farm Bureau will host the Arkansas Connectivity Summit on Wednesday, Sept. 8, at the Hot Springs Convention Center. The event will focus on developing plans to improve high-speed, broadband connectivity and cellular connectivity in Arkansas and will feature government and community leaders, industry stakeholders and others, including keynote speaker, Commissioner Brendan Carr of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
Eight district Farm Families have been named in the 74th annual Arkansas Farm Family of the Year program, representing the diversity of Arkansas agriculture, the state’s largest industry.
The finalists in Arkansas Farm Bureau’s annual Young Farmers & Ranchers (YF&R) Achievement Award and Excellence in Agriculture Award have been announced. The awards honor young farmers and ranchers between the ages of 18-35 for the general excellence of their operations, their hard work and innovation.
Matt King has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Administration and Advocacy at Arkansas Farm Bureau, according to Warren Carter, ArFB’s executive vice president. In his new role, King will drive internal and external alignment that improve the organization’s advocacy efforts that support agriculture and rural Arkansas. He will assist Carter with the organization’s administrative functions and strategic priorities.
