Harvest of the 2018 commercial tomato crop is underway in southeast Arkansas. Ashley, Bradley and Drew counties form the hub of the state’s tomato production and the recent Pink Tomato Festival in Warren celebrates the importance of this industry each year. In this edition of Arkansas AgCast, John Gavin, staff chair of the Bradley County Cooperative Extension Service, says the ripening and harvest of tomatoes was delayed a bit by weather this year and talks about why so many people eagerly anticipate their local, vine-ripened tomatoes each summer.
